Target younger adolescents aged 12-13 years of age
Include some media literacy, self-esteem and peer-focused content
Have multiple sessions and have around 5 hours in total program length
Future Adaptation Suggestions
Due to the impressionable age of adolescents, short lived interventions may not be sufficient to maintain improvements due to the ever present “appearance culture”. Regular booster sessions should be considered to maintain progress
Family and teacher reinforcement and support to help significantly improve body image and prevent eating disorders
Focus on positive individual traits and peer interaction, instead of drawing greater attention to negative impacts of diets eating disorders
Greater emphasis on addressing risk factors for boys. The inclusion of boys in interactive programs and discussion among peers may increase the effect of the intervention by allowing male and females to learn from and develop a greater appreciation of each other
